Our 2-Year Puppy Health Guarantee
Every Faithful Hearts Berners puppy is placed with a written two-year health guarantee because the health and long-term well-being of our Bernese Mountain Dogs and Bernedoodles matter deeply to our family.
24 Months of CoverageA Healthy Beginning and Honest Support
We take thoughtful steps to give every puppy a healthy start, including attentive home care and age-appropriate veterinary attention before homecoming.
Our two-year health guarantee begins on the date the puppy is picked up or delivered and continues for 24 months. It is intended to provide meaningful protection if a serious congenital or inherited health condition is diagnosed during the covered period.
No breeder can promise that a living animal will never become sick or need veterinary care. Our promise is to be honest about the puppy's known history, provide available health records, explain our written terms before purchase and respond responsibly if a covered condition is diagnosed.
Covered Health Conditions
Coverage applies when appropriate veterinary evidence shows that a serious condition is congenital or inherited and substantially affects the puppy's health or quality of life.
Congenital Conditions
A serious medical disorder present from birth that was not disclosed before placement and is diagnosed within the 24-month guarantee period.
Inherited Disorders
A serious hereditary disorder supported by veterinary findings and, when reasonably requested, confirmation from an appropriate veterinary specialist.
Initial Health Concerns
A serious health condition reasonably determined by a licensed veterinarian to have existed before pickup or delivery and reported to us promptly after the initial examination.
Important: A diagnosis must be supported by written veterinary records, examination findings and relevant testing. When the diagnosis or cause is uncertain, we may request a second opinion from another licensed veterinarian or specialist at our expense.
Our Puppy Health Preparation
The exact care completed depends on the puppy's age and is confirmed in the puppy's records before homecoming.
Veterinary Care
Puppies receive age-appropriate veterinary attention and are monitored closely while they are in our home.
Preventive Care
Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming are completed according to the puppy's veterinary schedule.
Health Information
Families receive the available vaccination and health information for their puppy to share with their veterinarian.
New Family Responsibilities
Good health requires responsible care throughout the puppy's life. To keep the guarantee in effect, the new family agrees to provide appropriate care and maintain clear records.
- Arrange an initial wellness examination with a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup or delivery, or at the first available appointment if clinics are closed.
- Provide the puppy's records to the veterinarian and follow an appropriate vaccination, deworming and preventive-care schedule.
- Provide suitable food, clean water, safe housing, companionship, grooming, exercise and prompt veterinary attention.
- Maintain a healthy body condition and avoid excessive or high-impact exercise while the puppy's bones and joints are developing.
- Avoid uncontrolled exposure to unknown dogs or high-traffic dog areas until your veterinarian confirms that it is appropriate.
- Keep invoices, examination notes, laboratory results, imaging reports and other veterinary records relevant to a health claim.
- Contact us promptly when a serious concern arises and cooperate reasonably while the claim is reviewed.
What Is Not Covered
The guarantee protects against defined serious congenital and inherited conditions. It is not pet insurance and does not cover every illness, injury or expense.
Conditions or Costs Generally Excluded
- Injury, accident, poisoning, abuse, neglect or preventable trauma after the puppy leaves our care
- Illness linked to failure to obtain appropriate veterinary care or follow veterinary directions
- Infectious disease exposure occurring after pickup or delivery
- Conditions caused or worsened by poor nutrition, obesity or inappropriate exercise
- Routine veterinary care, vaccinations, deworming, grooming, food, boarding or training costs
- Elective procedures and expenses not authorized in writing as part of an approved claim
Traits Not Guaranteed
- Exact adult size, weight, coat texture, markings or colour development
- A completely non-shedding or hypoallergenic Bernedoodle coat
- Temperament outcomes affected by later environment, care, socialization or training
- Breeding ability, show potential or reproductive performance unless expressly stated in writing
- Minor or common treatable findings that do not substantially impair the puppy's health or quality of life
- Any condition fully disclosed and specifically accepted in writing before placement
Do Not Delay Emergency Treatment
If your puppy needs urgent veterinary care, protect the puppy's health first. Notify us as soon as reasonably possible and retain all records. Except where applicable law requires otherwise, veterinary expenses are not automatically reimbursed and major non-emergency treatment should not be undertaken with an expectation of reimbursement without written claim approval.
How to Make a Health-Guarantee Claim
Prompt communication and complete veterinary records help us review a claim fairly.
Contact us promptly
Notify Faithful Hearts Berners in writing as soon as a licensed veterinarian identifies a potentially covered serious condition. Include the puppy's name, date of homecoming and your current contact information.
Send the veterinary documentation
Provide the veterinarian's written diagnosis, clinical notes, test results, imaging reports, treatment recommendations and explanation of whether the condition is believed to be congenital, inherited or present before placement.
Allow reasonable verification
Give us permission to discuss the relevant records with the attending veterinarian. If reasonably necessary, we may request an additional opinion from a licensed veterinarian or appropriate specialist at our expense.
Review the available remedy
If the claim is accepted, we will discuss a reasonable remedy under the signed agreement and applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, this may include a replacement puppy from a future available litter, a refund up to the original puppy purchase price, or an agreed contribution toward treatment up to that amount.
Our Goal When a Claim Is Approved
We understand that a serious diagnosis can be upsetting. Our first concern is that the puppy receives appropriate veterinary attention. We will review the documentation, communicate respectfully and work toward the remedy provided by the signed agreement and applicable consumer law.
A replacement puppy will never be required immediately, and availability may be limited because we breed only about once every two years. If a future puppy is part of the agreed remedy, timing and suitability will be discussed openly with the family.
Unless required for a particular remedy or because the family cannot continue care, we will not automatically require a loved puppy to be returned merely for the family to report a covered diagnosis.
Website Summary & Signed Agreement will be sent when you confirm interest
This webpage is a plain-language overview of our health commitment. Each approved family receives the current written health-guarantee and purchase terms that apply to the individual puppy. Please read the document carefully, ask questions and retain your signed copy and all veterinary records.
If information about a puppy's health or care differs from this general page, it must be disclosed and accepted in writing before placement.
Consumer-rights notice: This guarantee is intended to add to—not remove or replace—rights and remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable federal or provincial law. If any term conflicts with a mandatory legal right, that legal right continues to apply. Consumer law varies by province, so the final agreement should be reviewed for the province where the sale takes place.
